Emma is a fantastic therapist who led me through some very confusing emotions and decisions. She was attentive, insightful and understanding. I felt safe and heard at every session and will no doubt come back to the same therapist if I ever need to.

Frequently asked questions
How often will I have a session?
In an ideal world, sessions would take place at the same time every week but I understand that this may not suit everyone's lifestyle, budget, or availability. As such, we will discuss the frequency of our sessions during your assessment and find a schedule that suits you.
Please note however that a minimum of 24 hours notice is required for cancelling sessions otherwise the full fee is payable.
How long are the sessions?
A therapeutic hour is 50 minutes, starting on the hour.
What happens during the assessment?
The assessment is a 20 minute phone conversation during which we discuss your needs and what had brought you to look for therapy. We will cover your requirements from therapy, any accessibility accommodations, and when you would like your sessions to be. Relevant family and medical history will be covered to ensure that personal therapy is the best fit for you. After this, you can then book your first appointment, or decide not to continue with me – the choice is completely yours!
What modalities are you trained to work with?
As an Integrative Psychotherapist, I am trained in a number of different modalities:
Attachment Therapy considers the impact the circumstances, relationships, and environment we grew up in. It can be a brilliant tool in helping you understand the reasons as to why you may react in certain ways and to certain people. It is very useful for therapy that involves relationships.
Person Centred Therapy puts the client at the centre of their therapy and allows them to lead the way, avoiding prescribed techniques and interventions. It can be a very useful modality for someone who dislikes practical interventions (homework) and wants to just let therapy flow naturally.
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy believes that the way we think can impact our emotions and behaviours (and vice versa!) and by changing one, we can see a positive impact on the other. This is a great modality for individuals who like practical, hands on interventions and who may have a specific thing that they wish to overcome.
Each of these modalities are strong and reputable in their own right but by being able to pick and choose between them, we can tailor our sessions to find the best theory, knowledge, and techniques to help you and your individual circumstances, as and when they come up.
Are my sessions confidential?
All sessions are completely confidential. When you start therapy, we will both sign a contract to this effect which stipulates the occasions where confidentiality may be broken. These instances include where I feel there is a risk to you or to others. If at all possible, I will discuss breaching this confidentiality with you first.
