About Positive Therapy Clinic

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”
Carl Rogers

Hello, I'm Emma

Choosing a therapist is one of the most personal decisions you can make. It is important to find someone who, alongside qualifications and experience, makes you feel safe and heard.

You will likely share aspects of yourself with your therapist which you have never shared with anyone before and so it is important that you feel you can trust this person who will walk alongside you on this important journey.

My aim has always been to create a safe, calming, non judgemental space for my clients to explore whatever has brought them to therapy.

My Therapy Space

In the early years of my career and as a client accessing therapy, I have been in various different types of setting for therapy. Some good, others less so and I learnt how important it is for a client's therapeutic journey for them to feel safe and relaxed in the environment where their therapy is taking place. I knew that should it ever be possible, I would love to be able to create a space that achieves this for my clients.

I was fortunate to be able to do this in 2026 and converted a humble 'shed' into a beautiful, tranquil counselling space. Surrounded by nature, my counselling cabin gives clients the peace and seclusion they need for their sessions. During warmer months the doors can be open if the client wishes to let in a pleasant breeze and the sounds of nearby animals. In Winter, the cabin is a warm little room of comfort with squirrels running past. It is honestly one of my favourite places to be and I hope that my clients like it as well.

Why I became a therapist

I have always loved speaking with people and have a skill in building strong relationships where people feel able to talk to me about almost anything (great in therapy, less good on the train!).

I accessed personal therapy at the tail end of Covid and the safety, compassion and consideration I experienced there was life changing for me, and gave me the courage to act and bring about change in my life. I came out knowing that this was what I was supposed to do with my life.

I love empowering people with the gift of understanding and self-compassion. Seeing my clients make huge personal strides in self-acceptance, is one of the greatest privileges of my work.

Frequently asked questions

What are your qualifications?

This is a really important question as there can be a huge level of difference between the level of qualification a psychotherapist has and the amount of clinical training they have undertaken. I personally have a Masters in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (with Distinction) and as part of that training I completed over 300 supervised clinical hours (this number has now been well surpassed post qualification!)

Now I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and have also trained to work with couples and groups.

What is your approach?

All of my clients are individual and unique. That sounds cliché but it is true and something I hold closely when working with them. Rather than following one, prescriptive therapeutic approach, I work integratively, drawing on various therapeutic approaches and tools that work with my client. While we will always focus on what has brought you to therapy, we will also explore you as a whole; your past experiences, key relationships, values and beliefs, life stage and environmental factors that are cumulatively influencing your present.

What extra learning do you do?

I genuinely love learning!

Alongside my clinical work, I continually invest in my professional development to ensure my practice reflects current research and best practice.

My current areas of study include women's mental health, body confidence, and neurodiversity.

Who are you as a person?

Outside of my work, I enjoy spending time with my family, being present in nature (attempting to become skilled in gardening), walking my overly anxious Whippet, trying new crafts and (my dirty little secret) reading Romantasy fictions! I am not one for the traditional way of meditating but for me, being in nature and a good cup of tea is incredibly restorative and calming. I designed my counselling cabin with this in mind, creating a space where my clients feel safe, welcomed and where they are provided with a warm cup of something.
